I found some neat software to reprocess this with. Much larger picture with a lot less noise now!

Cheers!

This was another go at the Great Orion Nebula, this time with an 8"F6 scope I built [link]

The other one was shot with a 5"F8 - A lot less light gathering power.

This was 6 images exposed 1 - 2 minutes each, then stacked.
Canon Rebel XTi. 1600ISO

Enjoy!

Wow, I love the hexagonal diffraction pattern around the brightest star to the right of the nebula. If you dont mind me asking, how did you achieve that?

The old Gods are not dead. They think we are.
Is this actual real color, or did you enhance the colors a bit? (I was originally going to ask if it was real color or false color, but then I realized false color would be extremely difficult with a consumer-grade digital camera...)

Does this font make me look fat?
fantastic ! A really great shot.

Thank you :)

If it had no beginning, it has no end.
Yea, not false, but it is over saturated a tad bit. Those for the most part are the real colors.

Yea, the xti is great...I really like it.

Cheers! :)

In all fairness, I have no Idea :o I think it has to do with the spider that holds up the secondary mirror. :)

we call it 400D here, and it's really great...only wish noise reduction was better at higher ISO, but hey...i'm glad i got that one :D

Yea, for my landscape shots I stay at 100 ISO and am forced to shoot at 1600 for astro stuff. But stacking really helps calm that down.
